The Black Box Press

http://www.blackboxpress.co.uk/

The Black Box Press is a project initated by James Allen and Elliot Hammer based in London, which has evolved out of a workshop for third year Typo/graphic students at the LCC. Through publishing the work of writers, artists and designers we aim to forge relationships with people which we otherwise may not have found and in doing so creating a community.

Through encouraging the exchange of work we hope that it may be distributed far further than we will ever travel. To make this possible we aim provide a platform which other people may find useful by printing books / leaflets / magazines on the Risograph CR1610ep. All work will be archived at blackboxpress.co.uk.

I particularly like this overlay of red type over a black and grey image.

What intrigued me about this work was not just its design but the idea behind the work to share work and enable people to engage with each other and each others work. The two colour approach works really well. I was also surprised them to mention distribution of zines/booklets printed on a risograph. My original idea for design context i think was too jumpy.
