We were asked to design all material for PKN Oslo during 2009. PKN is a quarterly event presenting creative talent and stories. The format is simple; 20 images x 20 seconds each. A hectic and inspirational evening.
To promote the event we designed tickets, posters, programs, flyers, drink coupons and a website. The identity has taken its inspiration from Japan, birthplace of Pecha Kucha Night. The format is based on standard Japanese paperformats JIS. The traditional Shiroku Ban is the size of the folded out program. The flyers, drink coupons and tickets are also based on proportions of the Shiroku Ban format. To show respect to the speakers we created a program using a origami tecnique which makes it possible to have an 8-page folder without using any binding. It is also very cost effective as PKN is based on charity work. The colours changes for every PKN and we´ve decided to a keep a white bakground so it can be read in low light during presentations, as well as having a clear and minimalistic approach focusing on tactility and readability.
Simple layout for this poster and a good hierarchy system. I was drawn to the hidden details which can be seen on the close up below.
The considerations for this project are outstanding. Concept and paper sizes based around Japanese customs. The colour use and folding format is minimal and effective.
